Bathroom window film: privacy that keeps the daylight
Frosted film blurs the view through a bathroom window or shower door while daylight still comes in. It is cut to the size of your glass, holds through steam and peels off later without residue. Here is what it does, what it doesn’t, and how to size it.
Made for
- Bathroom windows
- Glass shower doors
- Smooth and lightly textured bathroom glass
1How it looks
A soft blur, with daylight coming through
The frosted film turns clear glass into a soft, bright blur. Shapes behind it lose their detail, and the room keeps its daylight, so there is no need to keep a blind down all day.
Up close, the sparkle grain catches the light.
2Steam and showers
Is it OK in a steamy bathroom?
Yes. The frosted film’s low tack bond is made for bathroom windows and shower doors. It is designed to hold the sheet flat through steam, corners and edges included.
Start with spotless glass: clean glass helps the film stay put. On a shower door, clean off soap film and limescale first (step 1 of the install guide).

3Your glass
Check your bathroom glass first
Many bathroom windows already have a pattern in the glass. The film is low tack: it needs enough flat contact with the glass to hold.
Smooth glass: yes
Flat, clear glass in windows, glass doors and shower doors.
Lightly textured: yes
A light texture, like many bathroom windows, still leaves enough flat contact.
Heavily textured or pebbled: no
Deep bumps leave too little contact, so the film won’t hold there.
Not sure which you have? Try the fingertip test.
4At night
What shows at night with the light on
Frosted film blurs the view by day and at night. But at night, with the bathroom light on, someone standing close to the glass can show as a soft silhouette from outside.
If that matters for your window, plan for it: a blind or curtain for the evenings, or keep the shower and the light away from that pane. More in privacy at night.
5Size and price
Measure the glass, then price it
Measure the visible glass, not the frame, in inches. The longest side picks the price tier, and you type your exact width × height on Amazon.
- A 24 × 36 in bathroom window is the 36 in tier, $22.99.
- A 27 × 66 in shower door is the 72 in tier, $76.99, in one piece.
- Over 46 in on the shorter side? It comes in two pieces at no extra charge, and you pick the seam.
Amazon shows the final price at checkout. More detail in the measuring guide.
6Install and remove
On with soapy water, off without residue
- Clean the glass until it is spotless.
- Spray the glass with mild soapy water.
- Peel the liner and place the film.
- Spray again and squeegee from the center out.
A big shower-door piece is easier with two people. When you move or redecorate, the low tack film peels off without residue. Photos and a real install video: the install and removal guide.
Before you buy
Frosted film blurs the view by day and at night, but at night with the lights on inside, someone close to the glass can show as a soft silhouette.
Rainbows show in direct sun only.
Neither film holds on heavily textured or pebbled glass.

A hand behind the film: only a blurred shape.
